Instructor: Daniel Jones
Assistant Instructors: Haley Grady, Lilianna Houston, Erica Jones
Our staff has over 30 years of experience teaching swimming lessons. Daniel has been teaching for the past five years and received his Water Safety Instructor certification from Duke University. Daniel began swimming at age 3 and was swimming competitively at the Goldsboro YMCA with the Goldsboro Sharks Swim Team by age 5. Daniel has won many swimming medals while swimming competitively for both the Sharks and the Kinston Kingfish. Erica has taught swimming lessons for over 25 years in a variety of facilities. We are very knowledgeable in all four strokes and will prepare your child to be safe in and around the water.
We offer large group, small group, and private swim lessons and follow the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Curriculum. We teach group lessons at Duplin Country Club in Kenansville and small group/private lessons in the Wallace, Beulaville, and Pink Hill areas. Red Cross swimming classes for kids are tailored to the needs of each child, so that he or she can progress at a comfortable pace. Some children may advance more quickly or slowly; however, our instructors ensure that everyone receives the instruction they need.
In the Learn-to-Swim program, parents or guardians are welcome and encouraged to stay and watch their kids' swim lessons. This not only helps increase the child's comfort level in the water, but can help parents understand the process and practice skills with their children.
During swim lessons, children will spend time on the following six levels:
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, generously gave, and participated in our camp. Check out our news article and up and coming camps below.
Dive into a world of fun and learning at our free swim camp designed exclusively for kids with autism! Our camp offers a safe and supportive environment where children can build confidence, socialize, and develop essential swimming skills.
Led by experienced instructors trained in autism awareness, our camp provides personalized attention and tailored activities to meet each child's unique needs. From water safety techniques to stroke development, our swimming sessions focus on fostering independence and enjoyment in the water.
In addition to swim lessons, our camp features sensory-friendly activities such as water play, aquatic games, and relaxation exercises to promote sensory integration and relaxation. We also offer structured group activities designed to enhance social skills, communication, and teamwork.
In 2025, we are excited to introduce two new swimming camps designed to cater to diverse needs and interests. The first is a Bible Study Camp, which will combine swimming lessons with engaging faith-based activities, creating a nurturing environment for spiritual growth and physical wellness. This camp aims to provide a supportive space where participants can deepen their faith while improving their swimming skills.
The second new camp is dedicated to underprivileged youth, offering free swimming lessons and recreational activities to children from underserved communities. This initiative strives to provide equal opportunities, enhance water safety skills, and promote healthy lifestyles among youth who might otherwise lack access to such programs. Both camps reflect our commitment to fostering growth, inclusivity, and community support through the sport of swimming.

All your child will need for lessons is their swim suit, towel, and sunscreen. If they would like to wear goggles they can but it is not required.
A parent or guardian is required to remain with students who are five and under to assist with their child's basic needs such as bathroom breaks. All parents/guardians are allowed and encouraged to stay and watch their child's lesson each day so that they can help them practice skills they are learning.
On the last day of class, your child will receive their American Red Cross Learn to Swim achievement booklet and a swimming-related surprise.
